Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience with replacing tyres on 1/24 scale hubs rather than replacing the whole lot each time?
eg. Alpha Piranha tyres (3/32 axle .0790 and .810) only seem to be available as wheels (tires cannot be purchased directly).
many thanks,
js

Yep, you can buy donuts from a few places, Mobile Raceways for one, and here is a simple how to, or you might like to try this one on Slotforum.
:)

Thanks a lot SlotBaker, that will get me busy. I noticed that Alpha do not list the Donuts on their Online Catalog, but they are on their "Online Store".

No probs.

Don't forget to try Mobile Raceways.

Also, you might like to try Proformance PRI - Fishe / Natural rubber donuts @ US$2.25/pr which get cheaper by quantity. I've bought a few, and they work great. I bought some other stuff from there and tried their donuts to spread the shipping cost.

The only trouble with 're-treading' wheels, is that the hubs get knocked around, or the threads weaken and strip, so keep an eye on the condition of the hubs.

I only 're-tread' hubs twice, then chuck them. By the time the hubs have worn out 3 tyres, they seem like they are too loose on the axle, and probably don't run true.

next, you'll ask about the glue to use.

Most ppl use sellys quick grip gel
i have had success with the water based quick grip, but it isnt available in easy to use tubes anymore.
